Contact: Fred or Laura Kern at 757-442-5563 for more information	Who We Are Save Our Necks (S.O.N.) is a group of active and concerned residents and property owners primarily located on Scarborough Neck and Craddock Neck in Accomack County, Virginia. The purpose of our organization is to ensure carefully planned, clearly defined, and properly controlled development in Accomack County through the implementation of a comprehensive land use plan and the enactment of appropriate, well crafted, and responsible zoning laws and regulations. We realize that it is of utmost importance to cautiously and carefully plan for the expansion of the county population and tax base. It is of equal importance to restrict projects which are not in character with the rural quality of life we all desire and enjoy. Provisions should be mandated and clearly written into the Accomack County comprehensive land use plan and into the county zoning laws that will deny projects that irreparably alter, harm, and destroy our irreplaceable Shore environment and resources or have a negative impact on the health, safety, and welfare of Accomack county residents. We understand that development in Accomack County is inevitable. The goals that we will focus on and work for include the following:
	Save Our Necks (S.O.N.) will actively support: * land use plans, * zoning regulations, and * zoning laws that provide for responsible and regulated county growth and development that protects the quality of life, the important natural resources, and the special characteristics that are unique to Accomack County and the Virginia Eastern Shore.	Save Our Necks (S.O.N.) will actively oppose: * plans, * regulations, * zoning laws, and * projects that we believe to be ill conceived and detrimental to the quality of life of Accomack County and the Virginia Eastern Shore.
	Save Our Necks (S.O.N.) will provide informed input and be involved productively and on an ongoing basis with our elected officials and policy making officials because policies and decisions made now will impact the people and the resources of the Shore for countless generations. Our group objectives will be attained by * coordinating, * researching, * lobbying, * providing information, * giving support, and * demonstrating necessary vigilance to protect and preserve the unique rural characteristics and the irreplaceable natural resources of Craddock Neck, Scarborough Neck, Accomack County, and the Virginia Eastern Shore.
