Respondent:  Ron Wolff, District: 2
Date: 8/10/07

1. In your opinion, what are the top three problems for the county?
A. Ground water
B. Growth and development
C. Law enforcement

2. Why are these problems?
A. Ground water is finite. We are not in a dire situation yet, but it could become one if not taken into account in planning.
B. We have made a good start beginning to manage it. We need growth but we need to manage it – where it is – so it doesn’t run rampant.
C. There are lots of unsolved crimes. The local sheriff doesn’t get resolution for every crime.

3. What would you do about them if elected to the Board of Supervisors?
A. The planning committee does a good job. People have to stay interested. I would work to get the word out and educate the homeowners. We need a good comprehensive plan to ensure we don’t loose ground.
B. Work to get a Comprehensive Plan with has the needed strength. There is a finite amount of growth that the County can handle at any one time. We need to set limits and re-examine in 2 to 3 years.
C. This is up to the voters to elect someone who will address the law enforcement issues.

4. What do you think about water in the county – Storm water, Ground water, seawater, bay water?
This is a big issue. We need centralized wastewater facilities in the bigger settlements in the County. At the state level, they should not permit any more overboard discharge on the seaside.

5. What do you think of the recent (June, 2007) report on the Accomack County Public Safety System?
The system is not working and needs to be fixed. But the report is very controversial. I will make a motion that each Supervisor pick 12 items that they can live with and that together we come up with a common set of 8 to 10 to start working on now. This is a starting point only.
